Date Filled  Cookies

 2 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Cup shortening
3 Tbsp Sour cream
1 Tsp. Salt
1-1/2 +/- Cup flour

Mix all ingredients with enough flour to make soft dough.  Roll out on floured board.  Cut with large glass dipped in flour.  Put filling on cookie and top with another cookie.  Crip edge with fork.  Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 deg for 15 minutes.

Date Filling

1 Lb. dates
¾ cu sugar
1 cup hot water
1 Tbsp vanilla
1 Tbsp butter

In saucepan cook dates and water until soft and add vanilla and sugar mixing.  Cool adding 1 Tbsp butter after cooked.
