Kolache
4 cup flour
½ cup butter Crisco
½ cup butter
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. yeast
½ cup warm water
1 tsp. sugar
1 cup cold milk
¼ cup sugar
4 egg yolks
Measure
flour, salt, shortening and butter into bowl. Dissolve
yeast in warm water. Add 1 tsp. of sugar. Let rise for 10 minutes. In another bowl, beat milk, sugar and 4 egg yolks. Add yeast mixture.
Pour into flour mixture until folded in.
Knead into ball and put in greased bowl. Refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours. Roll dough lightly in
flour and roll out with rolling pin to ½ inch thickness.
Cut with oversize round glass. Let
rise 15 minutes and make small indention for the filling of your choice. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 deg. House favorite raspberry with frosting.
Frosting for
Kolache
1 cup of powder
sugar
1 tea of vanilla
3 tbsp of milk
Mix together until
smooth like frosting. Add extra milk/powder
sugar until it is the consistency you like.
