LE RENDEZVOUS RESTAURANT CLUB
Profile
This quaint little French restaurant on Travis walk prepares each dish as if it were to be the award-winning dish. Extreme detail and heart go into each dish. My favorite is the lamb chops, which melt in your mouth. Pepper steak is another, with most dishes being cooked with wine, cognac, and garlic and tradition. It’s been there for over 20 years and not much has had to be changed.

TRAMONTANA
Profile
Serves the best of an odd but delicious intertwining of Texas and French cuisine because of items such as crab cakes St. Francis, shrimp remoulade with entrees like pepper-crusted filet mignon and sides of veggies like mashed potatoes and spicy corn. The atmosphere, some would say, is gaudy thanks to its gold dome but the long wait even with reservations can't be wrong in saying that this dining icon, Gene Street recent purchase, is at the top of its game.

GRAPE RESTAURANT

This quaint little French restaurant is tucked away in the Knox-Henderson business district and I can not tell you how many times I have driven by it before I stopped. Two tips…I told the waiter I want your best entrees and he delivered. I had the Duck with raspberry sauce and mussels in creamy basil sauce. Add that to a nice glass of wine and it was a dining experience that was all good. P.S. get on their mailing list and go to one of their wine sampling parties where they match the great wines of France with your favorite French foods. Dinner for one was about $45.

HOTEL ST. GERMAIN
Profile
This New American Hotel and occasion restaurant offer impeccable food and service, and by the number of awards they have won, some consider it the best restaurant in Texas. Located in the Hotel Adolphus expect to have your every need catered to. I have only been there once and that was for Thanksgiving Dinner. The multi-course dinner was orchestrated to perfection. This is a must attend even if you have to stay home a few nights to pay for the bill.
