In
the restaurant industry, where wait staffs can turn 100 percent of their staff each year,
speed of taking applications and processing the information to get a candidate in for hire
my be one of the most critical components to the operation of the restaurant. The
percentage of jobs advertised on the Internet is rapidly expanding. The application
process is a critical time when employers have to work just as hard as job seekers to make
a positive impression. When the process proves to be too difficult, disorganized, or
otherwise traumatic for candidates, it can adversely affect their opinion of an
employer. However, processing applications is one of the most
time-consuming tasks confronting employersand that makes it hard for them to make it
easy on job seekers. Because of the overwhelming number of applications that many
employers receive, they are forced to rely on computerized screening software, which often
uses mechanical filters to cut down the number of resumes. And who has the time to
re-enter all of this information collected into a computer system.
